Test Results

How and when to obtain test results from the surgery

Getting your test results

All patients are asked to contact the surgery to obtain test results. The administrative staff will give results to you or you may be asked to make an appointment to speak to or visit the nurse or doctor. Adults' results will not be given to anyone other than the patient, except in exceptional circumstances.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

Samples for tests

If the doctor or nurse has asked you to provide a pathology sample, e.g. urine, stool, sputum, these must be left at reception before 11am, Monday to Friday.

Patient needs groups

You may notice a test result or message appear on your NHS app that refers to patient groups (PNG 10 & 11). This is part of our work to support continuity of care. It’s simply a way we categorise patients based on their individual health needs, so we can make sure you receive the right support, from the right clinician, at the right time. This note is for our internal systems only – it requires no action from you and is absolutely not a cause for concern.

Test results from before 2023

Test results from before 2023 may not be automatically available. If you need to see older test results in your app or online account, you can request this.

If your request is approved, you'll be able to see your test results when you view your GP record in your NHS App or account. This can take up to 4 weeks.
