Travel Vaccinations

Information and advice for travelling abroad

Travel Vaccinations

If you are a registered NHS patient at Warders Medical Centre the following vaccinations are available free on the NHS from our practice. These vaccines protect against diseases which are considered to be the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.

Advice and vaccinations are given by the Practice Nurse. Please do not ask any of the care navigators for advice regarding travel vaccines, as they are not medically trained. If you have any queries, you must make an appointment with the Practice Nurse.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel, please complete our online travel form. Choose 'I want help with a health problem' and then search for Travel assessment.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 12 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. A 20-minute appointment will be required for each patient who is travelling.

Please note the nurse is unable to give advice over the telephone regarding travel vaccinations.
